The Edwin L. Cox, Jr., Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) combines visitation and outdoor education with a production fish hatchery. Its mission is to provide an educational, entertaining visitor experience that promotes freshwater sport fishing and the enhancement, conservation and stewardship of aquatic resources in Texas.

East Texas Arboretum & Botanical Society
This special 100 acres of native Texas land situated in a northwest corner of Athens, Texas will be preserved for generations to come. The Arboretum is open to the public and everyone is invited to enjoy this beautiful oasis. So come on out and experience the unique beauty, learn about the ecological importance of America’s native flora and enjoy 2 miles of naturalistic hiking trails, live (enclosed) honeybees and our Historic Wofford House Museum.
Henderson County Livestock Show
The purpose of this Association is to to educate the residents, particularly the young people of Henderson County, Texas, and surrounding communities on the agricultural industry by conducting public fairs and exhibitions.
Athens Scuba Park is a safe & relaxing location for divers to come out and spend a day or a weekend away from the city. We have a wide range of 30+ wrecks to explore. Our store is a full service, fully stocked dive shop. We are pricing our gear more competitively and providing smaller open water classes.

Purtis Creek State Park - Purtis Creek State Park is located in Henderson and Van Zandt Counties and has a total acreage of 1582.4. The park was acquired in 1977 from private owners and was opened to the public in 1988.
