Tara Vineyard & Winery features a variety of fine hand-crafted unique red and whites wines produced in East Texas. All estate fruit is hand picked and treated with upmost care from the vineyard floor to the bottle. TARA is the home of more than 7 acres of lovely East Texas Vines with winery onsite. The winery is a full service winery and includes large fermentation tanks, barrels, bottling equipment, crush pad. Tasting and tours available daily. Bottle shaped wine bar open for your enjoyment. Winery tour and tasting every Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and other times by appointment. The lovely outdoor Pavillion well suited for casual relaxation and enjoyment of the TARA experience amongst
Wilson, a german shorthair pointer, testing the Blanc du Bois grapes to make sure the sugars, acids and PH are ready for harvest. Wilson's job is to prevent local deer and other critters from dining on the vines before harvest. He did an excellent job this year and will be promoted to vineyard protection manager for 2012!the vines and scenic views with an amazing dish prepared by Chef Jeff and wine handcrafted by the winemaker, Patrick Pierce.

The TARA Story!
Tara Vineyard & Winery, the oldest winery in Henderson County, is owned and operated by the Pierce family. Upon entering the grounds, you’ll notice the stately historic Murchison home, constructed in the 1880′s and relocated from downtown Athens and nestled amidst Tara’s vineyards and open for overnight guests as the Tara Inn.
The winery building and Cellar Door restaurant are perched on the second hilltop on the estate, with a lovely covered pavilion/patio/lawn with flagstone fireplaces. The patio/pavilion overlooks the Blanc Du Bois vineyard and the rolling panoramic hills of East Texas. TARA is the perfect setting to relax and feel like you are in another world “the TARA world”. While in our world experience beauty, relaxation and Tara’s unique selection of premium wines and wonderful food. The patio is a delightful venue for a variety of live musical events as well as just relaxing with nature. Just inside is the original Tasting Room; down the hall is the Cellar Door for fine dining and the new wine shaped Wine Bar. The Cellar Door offers an exceptional cuisine and wine experience.

TARA comes from the Irish Folklore and stands for a view from afar. When TARA was on the high seas…we had a view from the top of the wave crest. A quote: one interpretation of the name Tara says that it means a “place of great prospect” and indeed on a clear day it is claimed that features in half the counties can be seen from atop Tara.
