For labor day weekend we will be bringing in a chef that specializes in cajun style food! For dinner we will be serving Cajun sausage & chicken Jambalaya with a variety of sides, including corn, and a cool desert. Dinner & music tickets are $22/person. We will have a burger/hot dog dinner with cool dessert available for kids with advance reservations. The cost is $5/child; there is no music cover charge with the purchase of an adult music/dinner ticket.
About the band:
Charles Crawford - Jim McAdams - Mark Harrell
(with Aaron Crawford & Gene Lehmann sittin' in)
Mark Harrell and Jim McAdams met in '79 and formed Hickory Wind, a 3 piece acoustic/electric/southern rock band, playing Six Flags Over Texas, The Filling Station circuit and several of the Chelsea Street Pub locations... added a drummer in 1980 and played all over Texas... then became a 7 piece show band, playing larger venues such as The Summit Hotel (where Charlie Pride sat in), The Railhead and even more Texas cities... even as far afield as central Florida. Over the decades, Mark and Jim have continued to play together as often as possible, doing mostly acoustic music from greats like James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Nancy Griffith, Buffalo Springfield, Kevin Welch, John Prine, CS&N, World Party and several originals.
Charles Crawford's 4 piece band, Sandstone, opened for such big name stars as Bobby Goldsboro, Charlie Pride, B.J. Thomas, Roger Miller and Jerry Lee Lewis. In '83, Jim joined Sandstone, which became The Works in '84, playing full-time around Dallas until early '88. Jim and Charles have been performing as a duo since '89 playing a wide variety of artists from Bob Wills to ZZ Top, James Taylor to Jimi Hendrix. Their repertoire includes some originals, but is mostly cover tunes with renditions fairly faithful to the originals. Artists include: Alabama, Beatles, Eagles, CCR, Pure Prairie League, Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly, Beach Boys, Elvises (Presley & Costello), Willie, Waylon, Jim Croce, Chuck Berry, Jackson Browne, Georges Strait & Jones, Dire Straits, Merle Haggard, Loggins & Messina, Jimmy Buffett, Michael Murphey and many others.
On most Saturday nights, we're lucky enough to have Charles' son, Aaron, sit in with us. He brings a much more current element to our presentation, doing songs by Maroon 5, Green Day, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jason Mraz... among others. His clear, true harmony vocals are a big help on the old stuff, too.
Gene Lehmann joins us on his fantastic fiddle at Tara as often as he can. We expect him to be with us this time, also
Come to Tara on Sept 4 and help us celebrate Labor Day weekend.
